A Mediterranean of Sustainability: discover ENI CBC Med events at 2023 EU Green Week

ENI CBC Med and its funded projects will be present in different events to be held during the EU Green Week (3-11 June 2023), the key annual forum to debate on European environmental policies that brings together decision- makers, leading environmentalists and stakeholders from across Europe and beyond every year.

In addition to EU Green Week conference happening in Brussels on 6-7 June with focus on biodiversity, circular economy, and zero pollution, a number of partner events will take place in Europe and beyond to shed light on the commitment of schools, universities, business associations, environmental organizations, civil society, and government agencies towards environmental sustainability. 

In line with the 2023 European Year of Skills, partner events will focus on the topics of skills for sustainable, resilient and socially fair communities.

The ENI CBC Med community will be present in the following events:  

  • Empowering women as champions of the Mediterranean’s Green Transition: on June 5th and 6th, PRIMA programme (‘Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area’) organizes a 2-days event to shed light on remarkable women who are leading the change in driving the green transition across the Mediterranean. Ms. Oumaya Marzouk, Director of Circular Economy Projects at Cerema, France ('Centre d'études et d'expertise sur les risques, l'environnement, la mobilité et l'aménagement') and coordinator of the RE-MED project will share her experience and expertise during the workshop “Promoting Gender Equality in R&I Projects to Drive the Mediterranean's Green Transition” to take place on June, 6th from 9.30 to 13.00 CEST.   • Towards a sustainable development of artisanal Salinas: coinciding with the final event of the MedArtSal project, the event - to take place in Beirut, Lebanon on June, 7th and 8th with a visit to Anfeh saltpans on June, 9th – aims to highlight the results obtained through the project in the promotion of a sustainable business model in artisanal Salinas of the Mediterranean region to preserve their production, both traditional and innovative, as instrumental for the protection of the saltpans biodiversity value and the social and economic development of local communities. It will feature an International Salt Fair with a showcase of salt-related products developed under the project. Find more information here.
  • The power of capacity building schemes: moving towards a Zero Waste Mediterranean: organized by the Med4Waste project on of June, 8th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm CEST, the webinar will showcase different capacity building schemes developed by Med4Waste to improve solid waste management, reduction of waste and recovery of organic matter in six cities in Lebanon, Jordan and Tunisia.   • Here and now. The future of sustainable fashion is on: organized at the Prato Textile Museum, Italy on June 8th from 10:00 to 13:00 CEST under the STAND Up! project, the event will shed light on sustainability the textile & clothing industry challenges and discuss projects, materials, supply chain, business models to boost eco-design for sustainable fashion.
