MED4EBM Data Gathering Campaign - Aqaba Diving Associations

This deliverable encompasses a comprehensive study conducted in collaboration with ten partner diving clubs, focusing on diving-related activities and reef check surveys across selected diving sites. The study aims to quantify visitation frequency, map diving loads, and provide daily environmental conditions at the sites. Additionally, it includes detailed Reef Check monitoring and descriptions of diving site attractions, facilities, and environmental stressors. The study's results are presented in this report, with detailed data provided in separate excel files for further analysis.

MED4EBM Training on Fisheries Ecosystem Based Management Tunisia

The Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries Training conducted in the Kneiss Islands region aimed to equip participants with methodologies and management tools essential for sustainable exploitation of target species and the overall ecosystem. Given that fishing is the primary economic activity in this region, the training emphasized the importance of implementing sustainable practices. Participants were introduced to different definitions of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) and gained insights into the significance of the human dimension and information systems in effective fisheries management. This training serves as a crucial step towards enhancing sustainable fishing practices and ecosystem conservation in the Kneiss Islands region, aligning with the project's objectives to promote responsible fisheries management.

Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Monitoring Workshop in Tyre, Lebanon

The Coastal and Marine Ecosystem Monitoring Workshop held in Tyre, Lebanon, aimed to foster synergy among various projects, stakeholders, and management entities involved in coastal and marine ecosystem resource management. The workshop focused on identifying priorities and potential collaborations for the coordinated delivery of training and capacity-building initiatives. Through stakeholder consultations, the workshop derived objectives, monitoring indicators, and training needs to establish a community-driven, long-term environmental monitoring program for coastal habitats. The initiative's overarching goal is to enhance sustainability by integrating coastal environmental monitoring into the interests of local communities and competent management entities. This workshop serves as a pivotal step towards regularizing coastal environmental monitoring as a common practice, ensuring its continuation and effectiveness in preserving Lebanon's coastal ecosystems.

Final event summary and proceedings : Mediterranean Forum for Applied Ecosystem-based Management

The Mediterranean Forum for Applied Ecosystem-based Management, funded under the ENI CBC MED Programme's thematic objective B.4, successfully organized its final event in Tunisia. Hosted by l´Institut National des Sciences et Technologies de la Mer (INSTM), the event served as a platform to showcase the project's outputs and achievements, highlighting the accomplishments of each Project Partner in their respective targeted areas. The event facilitated active cross-border collaboration, bringing together stakeholders from Tunisia, Jordan, Italy, and beyond. It featured a final workshop, semester 8 Steering Committee Meeting, and a Field Visit to the Kneiss Islands, the Project's target area in Tunisia. This document provides a comprehensive summary of the final workshop and field visit proceedings, focusing on the innovative computerized spatial planning management tool and the diverse mentoring and capacity-building initiatives undertaken to address integrated coastal zone management challenges.

MED4EBM Ecosystem Based Management Approach to Fisheries Aqaba Jordan

discussing eight years of fishery monitoring data (2014-2021) to guide collaborative fisheries management in Aqaba, Jordan. It engaged the local fishing community in developing sustainable strategies to protect fish stocks. The event aligns with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority's goals for the Aqaba Marine Park and the MED4EBM project, marking the first step in ongoing efforts to safeguard marine ecosystems and ensure their sustainability

MedTOWN Pilot projects on co-production initiatives

In total, 10 pilot projects in co-production initiatives in collaboration with public authorities and SSE entities have been funded through subgranting. As a result, over 800 individuals benefitted directly from the pilots project’s implementation. This process also led to the creation of 14 new jobs and the strengthening of 18 social enterprises. These pilot projects represent a significant milestone in the project, demonstrating the commitment to tangible, impactful action of local multilateral stakeholder partnerships.

MedTOWN Demonstrative Actions on co-production initiatives in collaboration with SSE entities

In total, 6 Demonstrative Actions have been designed and implemented to target poverty and social exclusion, addressing diverse areas such as social and economic inclusion through SSE initiatives and digital innovation, women empowerment, waste management, and use of public spaces in collaboration with local public authorities and SSE actors. It is estimated that more than 25,000 individuals at social and economic exclusion directly benefited from the project, accessing better social services in their communities through the implementation of the MedTOWN Demonstrative in the 6 partner countries (Palestine, Jordan, Tunisia, Spain, Portugal, Greece).In total, 6 Demonstrative Actions have been designed and implemented to target poverty and social exclusion, addressing diverse areas such as social and economic inclusion through SSE initiatives and digital innovation, women empowerment, waste management, and use of public spaces in collaboration with local public authorities and SSE actors. This report analyses the legal framework of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in 6 countries participating in the MedTown Project (Spain, Greece, Jordan, Palestine, Portugal and Tunisia), and the various issues related to it, such as procedures, formulas or instruments that facilitate the best implementation of SSE actions.The main issues to be addressed in the following report are:
• Regulatory and legal framework of the SSE and its ecosystem in the countries. SSE definition, regulation and purpose.
• Scope of application of the SSE regulations. Territorial and subjective. Main Actors Involved. Public and Private Sector.
• Who is responsible for drafting and amending SSE regulations? Problems in the application of the SSE and its regulations.
• SSE promotion measures. Recommendations and proposals for improvement and implementation of actions that facilitate SSE actions.
• SSE Conclusion and policy recommendations.

MedTOWN Regulatory and legal framework for public procurement (PP), Co-production of public policies (PPUB) in public-private partnerships (PPP) with SSE

This report analyses the legal framework of the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in six participating countries of the MedTown Project (Spain, Greece, Jordan, Palestine, Portugal and Tunisia), and the various issues related to it, such as procedures, formulas or instruments that facilitate the best application of SSE actions, co-production of public policies, public-private partnerships, use of complementary social currencies, electronic payments. The main issues addressed are the following:
• Regulatory and legal framework related to the co-production of public policies (PPUB), Public-Private Associations/Partnerships (PPP) and Public Procurement (PP "Public Procurement") and its ecosystem in the countries.
• Definition, Regulation and Purpose. 2) Scope of application of the PP and PPP regulations. Territorial and subjective. Main Actors Involved. Public and Private Sector.
• Who is responsible for drafting and amending PPP regulations? Problems in the application of its regulations.
• PPP promotion measures. Recommendations and proposals for the improvement and implementation of actions that facilitate PPP actions.
• Conclusion and regulatory recommendations of PPUB and PPP.
